Raptors 905 News Release
Raptors 905 (1-0), the NBA G League affiliate of the Toronto Raptors defeated the Iowa Wolves (0-1) in a back-and-forth game that resulted in 20 lead changes and 10 ties, 127-118 Thursday evening. The 905 were led by Raptors assignee Dalano Banton who put up a career-high 37 points, adding nine rebounds, four assists, and two steals in the match. D.J Carton led the Wolves putting up a team-high 33 points, five rebounds, five assists, a steal, and a block.
The two teams exchanged baskets back-and-forth throughout the first quarter before Iowa was able to take the lead. Down as many as 10 points in the final minutes of the opening frame, the 905 went on a 9-0 run to bring the game within one going into the second. The visitors continued to build off their momentum in the second as they outscored the home side 38-32, taking the five-point advantage going into the half.
The Wolves came out of the break strong, outscoring the 905 by five, tying the ball game as they entered the final 12 minutes. The two teams stayed neck-and-neck throughout the final frame, but back-to-back jumpers from Banton, and a timely three from returnee Saben Lee (16 points, five rebounds, five assists) sealed the game for the 905.
The 905 were paced by Ron Harper Jr. who added 22 points, eight rebounds, two assists, a steal, and a block to the stat sheet. Iowa saw a strong effort from Matt Lewis who added 23 points, four rebounds, and four assists in the loss.
The two teams meet again Saturday afternoon to complete their series, tip-off scheduled for 3:00 pm.
