Spurs Outlast Blue in First Regular Season Game

AUSTIN - A 33-point fourth quarter led the Austin Spurs (1-0) over the Oklahoma City Blue (1-1), 108-105, at the HEB Center at Cedar Park on Thursday night.

Alize Johnson recorded a double-double, scoring 18 points and grabbing 21 rebounds. Blake Wesley notched 21 points while Charles Bassey added 15 points and 9 rebounds.

The Blue took over the first quarter as Jaden Shackelford hit 13 of his 17 points to outscore the Spurs 34-25. In the second quarter, Wesley went 3-4 from the three, tallying 11 of his points while the Spurs trailed at the half 62-47.

Entering the third, Oklahoma City and the Spurs traded baskets. Tommy Khuse recorded his lone steal of the game for a fastbreak layup as the Spurs outscored the Blue 28-27. The fourth quarter featured five lead changes and six ties.

Five Blue players scored in double digits with as Lindy Waters III and D.J Wilson both scored 22 points while Scotty Hopson added 18 points.

NEXT UP

The Spurs host the Stockton Kings on Jan.1 at the HEB center at Cedar Par with tipoff slated for 5 p.m.
