Squadron Secure Home Playoff Game with Fifth Straight Win

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Birmingham Squadron (18-14), NBA G League affiliate of the New Orleans Pelicans, secured their fifth-straight win - a 126-111 win over the Memphis Hustle (15-19) in their final regular season game. With the win, the Squadron have clenched a home playoff game for the first round of the 2022 NBA G League Playoffs. The opponent, date and time of the game are TBD.

Memphis came out of the gates firing, jumping to a 16-point lead in the first half before Birmingham fought back to bring it within two, heading into the locker room at 63-61. Accurate shooting led the Squadron to the win in the second half, pushing their lead to as many as 26 in the game.

Birmingham shot a very accurate 54.5% from the floor on 48-for-88 shooting, including 18-for-35 from behind the arc (.514). Tonight marked the Squadron's sixth straight game shooting above 50.0% from the field and only the second time this season shooting above 50.0% from three (Last: .516 vs. TEX 3/37/22).

Three Squadron players posted a double-double on the night, the first time this season with three double-doubles in a single game for Birmingham. Center Zach Hankins led the team with 24 points and 16 rebounds, while guard Jared Harper led the team with 12 assists and added 19 points. Forward Zylan Cheatham accounted for the third double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds in only three quarters of play.

For Memphis, center Santi Aldama led the team with 26 points and 10 rebounds, notching the hustle's only double-double of the night.

Birmingham will return home next week for round one of the 2022 NBA G League Playoffs - opponent, date and time of the game is TBD.
