Grand Rapids Gold News Release

GRAND RAPIDS, MI - The Grand Rapids Gold (17-15) concluded their season tonight after being defeated by the College Park Skyhawks (20-13). Tonight's contest was a well-played game that resulted in 24 lead changes and 12 ties. The Gold led by as many as 15 points throughout the game, but an 8-0 run in the fourth sparked by Marcus Georges-Hunt pushed the momentum in favor of the away team. Although the stat line was balanced across the board, the Gold's struggles at the free throw line, coupled with their turnover woes gave the Skyhawks the advantage they needed to close out the game.

The Skyhawks were led by Atlanta Hawks two-way player Sharife Cooper with 20 points, 8 assists, 3 rebounds and 2 steals. Justin Tillman put up another 18 points and 8 rebounds. Marcus Georges-Hunt added 18 points, 5 assists and 4 rebounds. Other Skyhawks in double digits were A.J. Lawson (13 pts, 8 rebs, 2 assists), Langston Galloway (12 pts, 7 assists, 5 rebs) and Malik Ellison (12 pts, 5 rebs).

Terrence Jones was an offensive force for the Gold, collecting a game-high 24 points, 7 rebounds, 6 blocks and 2 assists. Big man Petr Cornelie racked up his sixth double-double in a row with 20 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Guard Trevon Duval followed up with 17 points, 6 assists and 2 rebounds. Other Gold players in double digits were Quade Green (15 pts, 7 assists, 3 rebs, 2 stls), Manny Camper (11 pts, 11 rebs, 4 assists) and Giorgi Bezhanishivili (10 pts, 5 rebs, 5 assists).
