
Squadron Lose Steam against the Vipers

Birmingham Squadron News Release
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Birmingham Squadron (12-12), NBA G League affiliate of the New Orleans Pelicans, fell to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers (20-6) at Legacy Arena, 135-114.
The Birmingham Squadron led in the first quarter and the first half of the second before being overtaken by the Vipers with just under six minutes left in the second. After that point, the Vipers never relinquished the lead for the rest of the game, outscoring the Squadron 84-63 over the remainder of the contest.
Scoring for both teams was spread amongst the roster with both teams having six players each scoring in the double digits. For the Squadron, the scoring was led by Harper (25) - his 10th time leading the team in points this season.
The Vipers were led by Anthony Lamb who had 31 points as well as seven rebounds, four assists and a steal. His offensive rating of 114.3 this season ranks fourth in the league. The team also had two players with double-doubles, Marcus Foster (25 points, 12 assists) and Mfiondu Kabengele (18 points, 11 rebounds).
Squadron center Zach Hankins posted 18 points on a perfect 8-for-8 field goals. He is shooting a very accurate 65.9% from the field this season, which leads the team and ranks fourth in the G League among players with at least 150 attempts. Hankins also had six rebounds and an assist on the night.
Guard Joe Young notched the only double-double for the Squadron on the night with 16 points and a season-high 12 assists.
With a quick turnaround, the Birmingham Squadron will be back in Legacy Arena again tomorrow night as they take on the Austin Spurs (12-11) at 7:00 p.m. CT.
