Sioux Falls Skyforce News Release
All-Time Record: 13-12
Last Meeting: 110-92 on 3/4/22 in Sioux Falls
Streak: W1
After a weekend slate that saw many of the Western Conference teams beat up on each other, the Sioux Falls Skyforce are still within striking distance of the playoffs, despite losing two games at home to the Austin Spurs on Thursday and Friday of last week. On the home stretch of the season, with just nine games left, Sioux Falls will play four of the next five games on the road.
The Skyforce sits just two games out of the sixth spot of the playoff picture and for the third-straight game, the team they are facing holds that spot. They are also two games out of the fifth seed, behind Birmingham, and 2.5 games back of Austin for the fourth spot.
A win in Frisco will be crucial, but also tough to do, as Sioux Falls has not won at the Comerica Center in over five years (Feb. 4, 2017). Keith Benson led the way with 26 points and 13 rebounds in a 139-113 victory. The Force is 0-5 against the Legends on the road since Benson's big performance. However, a victory would mean the first four-game road wining streak since the 2015-16 season, where the team won five-in-a-row.
Sioux Falls took the last matchup 110-92 on Mar. 4, when Micah Potter posted 26 points on 12-18 FGA and seven rebounds. Mario Chalmers added 14 points on 4-8 3PA and 13 assists in the victory. However, Texas took the first of the back-to-back 120-117 behind 31 points from Carlik Jones.
Texas defeated the Iowa Wolves 115-109 on Monday night, behind a combined 54 points (17-37 FGA) from Carlik Jones and Justin Jackson. Moses Wright posted 18 points and 13 rebounds off the bench, as well.
The road does not get much easier for the Force, as they travel to the Texas/Mexico border to face Rio Grande Valley. The Vipers, who are 20-6, have the best record in the G League right now and are 9-2 at Bert Ogden Arena this season. They also just clinched a playoff spot in the West, the first team in the G League to do so.
