BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Birmingham Squadron, NBA G League affiliate of the New Orleans Pelicans, fell to the Long Island Nets, 134-124, in the team's annual Literacy Day game in front of a crowd of 4,544 at Legacy Arena at the BJCC.
Malcolm Hill paced Birmingham in the scoring column with 29 points, while also hauling in nine rebounds. Two-way guard Dereon Seabron scored 26 on the day with seven boards to go along.
The remaining three Squadron (13-15) starters, Jordan Hawkins (19), Karlo Matkovic (15) and Jalen Crutcher (10) all scored in double-figures as well.
Noah Clowney's 33 points led the way for the visiting Long Island Nets (16-11), while Keon Johnson tallied 22 off the bench and starter Kennedy Chandler dropped 20.
Birmingham is now scheduled for two straight road tilts at Delaware, with the first coming on Friday at 6 p.m. The game can be seen locally on My68 and nationally on NBAGLeague.com.
