Springfield Falcons Sign Defenseman Derek Docken to ATO

Springfield, Mass. - The Springfield Falcons have signed defenseman Derek Docken to an amateur try-out contract, Director of Hockey Operations Bruce Landon announced today.

Docken, 24, has skated in 34 games at the University of Alaska-Anchorage this season posting 1-3-4 along with 20 penalty minutes. During his four year career at UAA, the 6-foot, 193-pound defenseman has put up 6-18-24 and 63 penalty minutes in 139 contests.

Prior to his college career, the Northfield, Minnesota native appeared in 59 games with the Dubuque Fighting Saints of the United State Hockey League earning 1-10-11 to go with 41 penalty minutes and a +23 rating. Docken also spent two seasons in the North American Hockey League with the Albert Lea Thunder tallying 8-24-32 with 48 penalty minutes.
