Windsor Spitfires News Release
(Sarnia, ON) - Aaron Luchuk scored twice and Connor Chatham registered four points, as the Spitfires won their 40th game in a 6-3 victory that wrapped 2015-16 regular season Sunday.
Mikhail Sergachev's 17th of the season - most by any Ontario Hockey League defenceman - was the eventual winner, for a Windsor (40-21-6-1) club that has now won three straight.
After Sarnia (42-19-5-2) scored a pair of power play goals in a 39-second span of the third period, Luchuk (26, 27) and Andrew Burns (2) salted the game away with markers 1:32 apart.
Mario Culina made 35 saves for the winners, while Aidan Hughes made 30 in a losing effort.
The fifth-seeded Spitfires will now prepare for their first round playoff series with the fourth- seeded Rangers, which begins in Kitchener on Thursday.
