(Belleville, ON) - Jamie Lewis capped a wild comeback, as the Spits escaped Yardmen Arena with a 6-5 overtime win over the hometown Bulls Wednesday night.

Leading 2-0 after 20 minutes, the Spits came undone, giving up five consecutive goals in a span of 9:21 as Jordan Subban, Brett Welychka and Niki Petti all exploded for a goal and three assists each.

But newcomer Anthony Stefano, acquired earlier in the day from Peterborough, scored a huge goal at 16:58 of the second period, cutting the Belleville (18-16-2-2) lead to 5-3 after 40 minutes.

Windsor (16-21-1-0) went to work early in the third, getting goals from Lucas Venuto (10), also playing in his first game as a Spitfire, at 2:16, before Markus Soberg made it 5-5 at the 5:55 mark.

That set the stage for Lewis to play the hero, as he took a pass from Aaron Luchuk (1G, 2A) before beating Charlie Graham (32 saves) with a quick shot to the stick side, emptying the Spitfires bench.

The win gave the Spitfires their first three-game win streak of the season and extended their road win streak to five games.

Trevor Murphy (2A) and Soberg (1G, 1A) also had multi-point games for Windsor.

Alex Fotinos stopped all 13 shots he faced, earning the win after relieving Brendan Johnston with 4:08 to play in the second.

Thursday is an off day, but the Spits continue on their Eastern Ontario trip with a stop in Ottawa Friday.
