Spitfires Mourn the Passing of Al Arbour

The entire Windsor Spitfires organization is mourning the loss of hockey icon Al Arbour, who passed away earlier today at the age of 82.

Arbour played 145 games for the Windsor Spitfires of the OHA from 1949 to 1953 before moving on to a legendary professional career spanning nearly four decades as a player and coach.

He won four consecutive Stanley Cups with the New York Islanders between 1980 and 1983 - a stretch that included a streak of 19 consecutive playoff series won.

"When you talk about all-time greats in the hockey world, few have the pedigree of Al Arbour," Spitfires President Bob Boughner said. "Fewer still commanded the type of respect he did. He leaves behind a huge legacy and will be missed."

Condolences go out to the Arbour family and all who knew Al.
