
Spirit Sweep Doubleheader

Lynn, MAâ The North Shore Spirit swept both ends of a doubleheader from the Aces Thursday night at the New Fraser Field.
In game one, North Shore outslugged the Aces 9-2. Spirit starter Bryan Morse went the distance to pick up his first win of the season. Morse allowed two earned runs on seven hits while striking out 4.
The Sprirt jumped on Aces starter Clayton Andrews early, scoring two runs in the first. After Marcos Agramonte and Vic Davilla both reached, Rob Fischer lined a single to right plating both runners. North Shore would tack on four more runs in the fourth. Onix Mercado launched a solo homerun to left putting the Spirit ahead 3-2. Then, with two on and two out, Davilla sent a first pitch fastball deep over the rightfield fence for his third homerun of the season. For the game, Agramonte had three hits and a run scored. Brain Macchi continued his hot start with a pair of RBI's.
North Shore completed the sweep of the Aces with a 5-3 victory in the nightcap.
Scoreless in the fourth, Spirit catcher Travis Oglesby led off with a single up the middle. One out later, Joe Hastings delivered an RBI base hit to right. After a walk to Brian Macchi, Yuri Sanchez put the Spirit ahead 2-0 with a run-scoring double down the leftfield line.
The Spirit tacked on two more runs in the fifth inning off an Oglesby two-run homer. The Aces scored one run in the fourth and two runs in the fifth for a score of 4-3. The Spirit added an insurance run in the final inning to finish the game with a 5-3 victory.
Ben Knapp got the win for the Spirit and Ryan Bicondoa picked up the save. Alex Pena got the loss for the Aces.
The Spirit face the Aces tomorrow night in another doubleheader beginning at 5:00 pm. Aaron Dean and Tim Hart will start on the mound for games one and two respectively.
