
Spirit Start Road Trip Wednesday in Sarnia

Sarnia, Ont. - The Saginaw Spirit (17-30-1-0) play their fifth of eight meetings this season against the Sarnia Sting (19-22-3-1) Wednesday night at Progressive Auto Sales Arena in Sarnia, Ontario in the first of three straight on the road for the Spirit.
Head-to-Head
Tonight, is the first matchup between the Spirit and Sting at the Progressive Auto Sales Arena since Nov. 5, 2021. That game resulted in a 7-4 Spirit victory, which was their only win against the Sting this season. Since then, the Sting have won three straight against the Spirit, all at The Dow Event Center. Their last meeting on Feb. 19 resulted in a 6-3 decision for the Sting. The Spirit found themselves trailing 5-0 going into the third before scoring three straight goals to make it interesting. Nolan DeGurse wrapped up a four-point game with the sixth Sarnia goal to put the game out of reach.
Last Time Out
Saginaw: After scoring a season-high eight goals Friday, the Spirit were shut out Saturday by the Erie Otters in a 2-0 affair. Tristan Lennox made 25 saves in net for the Spirit. Nolan Lalonde bounced back after being pulled the night before, with his first career OHL shutout. Brendan Sellan scored the game-winning goal on a shorthanded tally in the second period. Noah Sedore filled an empty net late in the third period to seal the deal for the Otters.
Sarnia: Following their 6-3 road win in Saginaw on Feb. 19, the road has been tough for the Sting who have dropped their last four games, being outscored by 19 goals. The Sting dropped a 5-1 game Sunday in Windsor against the Spitfires. Nolan Burke scored his 27th goal of the season in the first period to tie the game 1-1. Windsor would score the next four goals in the first and second period to cruise to the four-goal win. San Jose Sharks prospect Ben Gaudreau made 35 saves in goal for the Sting, his eighth start with 35 saves or more. The Sting are 5-1-2-0 in those eight games.
