Spirit, Hounds Set for Battle on Military Appreciation Night

Saginaw, Michigan - The Saginaw Spirit (9-6-1-1 20 pts.) finish their four-game home stand Saturday evening against the Western Conference leading Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds (12-4-3-1 28 pts.) on Military Appreciation Night at The Dow presented by Bay City Elks Lodge #88 and the Michigan Warriors Hockey Club. Puck drops at 7:05 p.m. with a post-game jersey auction following the game.

The Saginaw Spirit are coming off a 5-1 victory against the Mississauga Steelheads on Friday evening. The Spirit benefited from a big contribution from D.J. Busdeker. Busdeker, a Dexter, Michigan native, scored a goal and assist earning him first star honors in the win. Busdeker has points in both games against the Soo this season, including a goal and assist in Sault Ste. Marie.

Arizona Coyotes prospect Ivan Prosvetov allowed just one goal on 31 Mississauga shots. The Russian-born goaltender is now 7-2-1-1 in his first OHL season with the Saginaw Spirit.

Cole Coskey scored his eighth goal of the season in the victory, putting him into a four-way tie for first among Spirit players. Coskey comes into Saturday's game one goal shy of 50 for his career.

New York Islanders prospect Bode Wilde contributed an assist in his first game since October 19. The Plymouth, Michigan native, has 14 points in 11 games from the back end in his first Spirit season.

It is the third meeting of the season between the two teams, with each team winning on home ice. Saginaw opened the season against the West Division rivals with a, 5-2 victory at The Dow.

Saginaw Spirit first round pick Cole Perfetti lead the way with two goals in the effort. Perfetti is second among all OHL rookies with eight goals in 14 games.

The Greyhounds took the second meeting of the season with a, 6-3 win at The GFL Memorial Gardens.

Philadelphia Flyers first round pick Morgan Frost had a goal and three assists in the game at GFL Memorial Gardens. Frost leads the Greyhounds with 34 points on the season, good for third among all OHL players.

Sault Ste. Marie's Cole MacKay is second on the team in points behind Frost. MacKay scored a goal and assist in the last game against the Spirit.

The Spirit have six players draft by NHL programs, forwards Brady Gilmour (Detroit Red Wings), Blade Jenkins (New York Islanders), Damien Giroux (Minnesota Wild), Defensemen Bode Wilde (New York Islanders), Reilly Webb (Detroit Red Wings), and goaltender Ivan Prosvetov (Arizona Coyotes.)

The Greyhounds have four players with rights owned by NHL clubs, forwards Morgan Frost (Philadelphia Flyers), Barrett Hayton (Arizona Coyotes), Mac Hollowell (Toronto Maple Leafs), and goaltender Matthew Villalta (Los Angeles Kings).
