Spirit Get Garlock, Maunu from Spits

The Saginaw Spirit have acquired overage players Ryan Garlock and Mitch Maunu from the Windsor Spitfires. The Spirit are sending forward Anthony Soboczynski to Windsor in the trade. The deal follows an exchange of draft picks between Saginaw and Windsor in May.

Both Garlock and Maunu are 2004 draft picks of the Chicago Blackhawks. Spirit General Manager and Head Coach Bob Mancini welcomes the pair to the Spirit. "We are excited and thrilled to add two players of this caliber to our roster", stated Mancini, "We are happy to welcome them to our organization".

Forward Ryan Garlock is an Iroquois Fall, ON native. He was selected in the 2nd round, 45th overall in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. Garlock started his OHL career with the Guelph Storm in 2002 and was traded to the Windsor Spitfires two season later. He ended the 2005-2006 regular season with 20 goals and 32 assists in 62 games played.

Defenseman Mitch Maunu was selected in the 4th round, 120th overall in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. The Thunder Bay, ON native has spent his entire OHL career in Windsor, playing with the Spitfires for four seasons. Maunu ended the last season with 9 goals and 27 assists in 58 games.
