Lynn, MA– In a sloppy game Tuesday night, the North Shore Spirit dropped a 10-4 decision to the Bangor Lumberjacks at the New Fraser Field.

J.C Huguet (3-2) pitched 5 2/3 innings of two run baseball out of the Bangor bullpen to pick up the win. Tim Hart (4-2), making his second start of the season, allowed only one earned run over six innings but suffered the loss.

Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the first, North Shore struck for two runs against Bangor starter Jerry Long. Mike Granger leadoff with a single to right and advanced to second on a basehit by Nelson Teilon. Vic Davilla then laced an RBI single to center, scoring Granger with the Spirit's first run. Teilon would score one batter later on a groundout by centerfielder Rob Fischer.

Bangor's offensive attack was lead by Kaz Kohno and Brad Hargreaves. Kohno finished the game with three hits and a run scored. Hargreaves was 3-5 with three RBI's. Cleanup hitter Derry Hammond hit his league-leading 18th homerun during a two-run seventh inning for the Lumberjacks.

In the bottom of the seventh, Nelson Teilon hit an opposite field solo homerun, his ninth of the season, to cut the Lumberjacks lead to 6-3. Onix Mercado would add a solo shot of his own in the eighth, but that's as close as the Spirit would get.

Joe Hastings was 3-5 for North Shore. Anthony Del Prete made his debut in a Spirit uniform, pitching the final 1 2/3 innings.

John Kelly (7-3, 2.88) takes the mound for the Spirit on Wednesday afternoon and will face Bangor's Isaac Pavlik (1-0, 2.03). Wednesday's game begins at 12:00 pm, gates open at 11:30 pm.

Wednesday is Play Hooky Day at the New Fraser Field. Take a long lunch, hold your meeting at the ballpark, or bring your clients to the field for weekday afternoon baseball.
