Errors Cost Cutters In 13-4 Loss To Aces

West Haven, CT- The New Haven County Cutters committed five errors that led to seven runs in a 13-4 loss to the Aces at Yale Field.

One out away from a pefect first, Stater Wes Mindingall allowed a bouncing ball to third that skipped under the glove of Jeff Brooks. That opened the door to a five run inning with the major hit coming from Eddie Gerald who delivered a bases clearing double with the bases loaded.

The Cutters scored two in the second on a sacrifice fly by newly acquired Jeff Brooks and a two-out RBI single by Billy Rich.

Aaron Fera would blast his first homer in a Cutters uniform and third of the season to lead off the fourth. Jeff Brooks, in his debut, went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

The Cutters lost despite getting a hit from every batter in the game. The Cutters had eleven team hits.

The Bangor Lumberjacks sent 17-batters to the plate in the first two innings that accounted for seven runs. In the seventh inning, the Aces send nine batters to the plate in a four run inning. Every Aces batter in the lineup scored a run.

Al Corbeil went 4-for-6 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored.

Wednesday at Yale Field, the noon time game is United Way/ News Channel 8 Summer Camp Day and Whattaya Know Wednesday Kids Trivia. Camps from the around the New Haven area will gather to root on the Cutters and test their knowledge. Winners of the trivia contest will have their names posted on the New Haven website, www.cuttersbaseball.com
