Little Falls, NJ- The New Jersey Jackals crushed the Elmira Pioneers, by scoring nine runs in a top of the ninth rally, defeating them 13-8.

In the bottom half of the inning, with runners at second and third, Yuji Nerei grounded out, scoring Dytarious Edwards.

New Jersey would re-take the lead in the top of the third. With Anderson on second, Zack Smithlin reached on a bunt. The throw to first was low, and alertly, Anderson took a big turn around third, and crossed home.

With two outs in the top of the fourth, Jay LaFlair crushed a solo homerun to dead center, extending the New Jersey lead to 3-1.

In the bottom of the sixth, the Pioneers would take advantage of an error by Jackals' right fielder Wady Almonte. Jeremy Dodson singled, but Almonte let the ball get by him and roll all the way to the wall. Dodson went to third on the error. Steve Checksfield then singled, scoring Dodson. Ronnie Deck then singled scoring Checksfield. Jason Bryan finished off the hit parade with a single of his own, giving the Pioneers a 4-3 lead.

In the top of seventh, Jay LaFlair would single to left, but outfielder Steve Checksfield air-mailed the throw back into the infield, allowing LaFlair to go trot into third base. Juan Infante then flew out, allowing him to score. The run once again tied the ballgame.

Elmira would answer in the bottom of the seventh with two runs. RBI singles by Dodson and Checkfield put the Pioneers ahead, 6-4.

The Pioneers would extend their lead by two. With runners at the corners, the Pioneers executed a double steal, allowing Dytarious Edwards to score. Cleatus Davidson then singled scoring Dennis Abreu, making it 8-4, Elmira.

The Jackals sent 14 batters to the plate in the inning.

During the inning, on a passed ball, Jay LaFlair broke for home, and home plate umpire Nick Mele called him safe, then called him out. In the process, Aaron Myers, of the Jackals, was ejected from the ballgame in the ruckus following the call.

Jackals starter Jackson Crowther got a no decision in six innings of work. He gave up seven hits and three earned runs. Evan Neiser got the victory in relief.
