Durham, N.C. -- New Jersey right-handed pitcher Aaron Myers was selected as the Northeast League's Rawlings Player of the Month for July and as a result will receive a glove courtesy of Rawlings Sporting Goods, which is the industry leader in baseball equipment, producing top-flight baseball bats, balls, gloves, jackets and team apparel. This is the first Player of the Month selection for New Jersey, as North Shore's Jeremy Sugarman, who was sold to Cincinnati last week, took home June honors.

Myers, who was the Pitcher of the Week on July 18, went 4-1 in July with a 1.06 earned run average to win the award. In 34 innings, he allowed 29 hits, seven runs, four earned, while striking out 38 and walking only four. During a four-game stretch from 7/6-7/25, he went 4-0 and gave up just two earned runs. On July 13 against Elmira, Myers went out a tossed a seven-inning complete game three-hit shut out of the Pioneers and fanned 11 to help New Jersey win the first half South Division title. He is currently 5-2 with a 3.29 ERA and second in the league with 75 strikeouts.

Myers is in his 11th season of professional baseball and third season with the Jackals. He was originally selected by the Colorado Rockies in the 17th round of the 1994 MLB Draft. Myers spent four seasons as a third baseman before converting to a pitcher prior to the 1998 season. In 2001, he played at Double-A Huntsville, his highest level in the affiliated leagues.
