Lowell Spinners News Release

LOWELL, MA - The Lowell Spinners (10-2) came into Thursday's game against the Tri-City ValleyCats (4-8) looking for their seventh win in a row. After a six-run second inning and a strong performance from their starter, they were able to accomplish just that by a final tally of 7-3.

The Spinners got started in the bottom of the second inning when Marino Campana singled through the hole on the right side of the infield, and moved over to third base on a double by Joe Davis - his first professional hit.

Xavier Legrant followed with a single, scoring Camana from third, advancing Davis to third and giving Lowell a 1-0 lead. After Alex Erro walked, scoring Davis from third and making it 2-0. Kervin Suarez followed with an RBI single, reloading the bases and giving the Spinners a 3-0 lead.

Elih Marrero followed with a bases-clearing double over the head of Tri-City right fielder Wilyer Abreu and making it 6-0 Spinners.

After the ValleyCats got on the board in the top of the fifth courtesy of a solo home run by Nathan Perry, Erro put the final nail on Tri-City's coffin with an RBI single up the middle, scoring Flores from second base, making it 7-1.

The Spinners got a solid outing from starting pitcher Yusniel Padron-Artilles. Padron-Artilles collected the win going six innings, allowing one run (earned) allowing just two hits in the process. He also struck out eight and only walked one.

Lowell's next game is on the road against the Cyclones on Friday at 7:00 p.m., but their next home game is on Monday afternoon when it clashes with second-place Vermont in a battle for first place.

The Lowell Spinners, proud affiliate of the 2018 World Champion Boston Red Sox, offer Season Ticket Packages, Mini-Plans, Group Sales, and Single Game Tickets.
