STATE COLLEGE, PA-Chase d'Arnaud's tenth-inning single scored the winning run to give the Spikes a come-from-behind walk-off win, 4-3, over the Mahoning Valley Scrappers Thursday night at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.

D'Arnaud's single scored Ciro Rosero, who delivered an RBI double off the left field wall to knock in David Rubinstein. Rubinstein had reached base on a leadoff walk off of Mahoning Valley (28-38) right-hander Brad Hinkle (0-1).

Kyle Morgan put State College (15-50) in front, 1-0, with his third home run of the year to the bleachers atop the 18.55-foot right field fence in the second inning. Morgan is now 11-for-14 with two home runs in his last four games against Mahoning Valley.

The Scrappers tied the game in the fourth when Tim Fedroff brought in Ryan Blair from third base on a fielder's choice. The Spikes responded when Rubinstein knocked an RBI single to right field, bringing in Mark Carver.

Mahoning Valley then tied the game in the seventh when Lonnie Chisenhall scored on a Matt Foust wild pitch. The Scrappers went on to take a tenth-inning lead when Blair scored on a two-out base hit to center by Fedroff, setting the stage for the Spikes' tenth-inning heroics

Allen Ponder (1-2) got the win for State College in front of 3,250 at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park, going the final inning-and-a-third and stranding the bases loaded in the top of the tenth inning. Ponder struck out three in his appearance.

Carlos Amaro started for State College and went a season-long six innings, allowing just one run on two hits and striking out three.

Hinkle took the loss after pitching the ninth and tenth innings for Mahoning Valley. Eddie Burns made the start and struck out seven in four innings of work. Burns was making his second professional start after being drafted by the Cleveland Indians out of Georgia Tech in the 39th round of this year's draft.

Friday night, the Spikes take on the Scrappers in a special 5:30 PM matchup at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. State College sends southpaw Rudy Owens (2-6) to the mound. Owens pitched five no-hit innings against Mahoning Valley in his last start. The Scrappers counter with right-hander P.J. Zocchi (3-4).

Plus, a lucky fan will win a three-day, two-night trip to Myrtle Beach, SC, home of the Spikes' sister franchise, the Myrtle Beach Pelicanss, complete with airfare and hotel. It's all part of Friday's festivities presented by the Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce.
