Williamsport Crosscutters News Release
The Williamsport Crosscutters couldn't keep pace with the Batavia Muckdogs as the Cutters lose 11-7 Thursday night.
Starting pitcher Freddy Ballestas got roughed up lasting just 2 and 2/3 innings allowing seven runs on eight hits. The relief pitching wouldn't fare much better as Sean Grieve and Miguel Matos combined to surrender four runs on eight hits.
Offensively for the Crosscutters, 3B Cody Overbeck went 3-5 with 2RBI's including his 12th home run of the season. SS Troy Hanzawa went 2-3 with 2 RBI's. 2B Bryan Frew also collected two hits.
With his 52nd & 53rd RBI's of the year, Overbeck set the Crosscutters single season RBI record surpassing 1B Steven Pearce who drove in 52 in 2005. With one more home run he will tie 1B Walter Young (2001) for the Crosscutters single-season home run record.
With the loss, Williamsport is now 8 ½ games out of the wildcard with ten games remaining. The two teams will square off again Friday night at Historic Bowman Field. The game can be heard on ESPN 1050AM and 104.1FM and at www.crosscutters.com.
