Spikes, IronBirds Postponed Due to Wet Grounds

STATE COLLEGE, PA - Wednesday night's game between the State College Spikes and Aberdeen IronBirds has been postponed due to wet grounds at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park after heavy rain showers in the State College area. The two teams will make up the game as part of a doubleheader consisting of two seven-inning games starting Thursday at 6:00 p.m. at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.

Tickets for Wednesday night's game can redeemed for a ticket of equal or lesser value to any remaining Spikes home game in 2014, based upon availability. Fans can redeem their tickets by visiting the Medlar Field at Lubrano Park Box Office, or by calling (814) 272-1711 for more information on ticket redemption.

Right-hander Will Anderson (4-1) had been set to start for State College (31-14) on Wednesday, while right-hander Tanner Chleborad (1-1) was slated to pitch for Aberdeen (15-29). The Spikes were originally scheduled to send left-hander Dewin Perez (3-1) to the mound on Thursday, while the IronBirds had not yet announced a starter for Thursday's game.

$1 Beer Night returns to the ballpark on Thursday, presented by 93.7 THE BUS. Fans can purchase 12-oz. select domestic draft beers for just $1 apiece from 6-8 p.m.

It's also Halloween Night at the ballpark, and gates for the twin bill will open to the public at 5 p.m.

The six-game homestand continues through Monday, with the IronBirds and Hudson Valley Renegades (Tampa Bay Rays) providing the opposition. Highlights include the second Bark in the Park Night of the year, presented by Metzger Animal Hospital and NEWSRADIO 103, on Saturday night, a pair of fantastic FIREWORKS shows, and Paint the Park Pink Night to raise funds and awareness in the fight against breast cancer, presented by Mount Nittany Health, on Sunday.
