FREDERICK, Md. - Josh Leslie helped the State College Spikes take an early lead with aggression on the basepaths, but the Frederick Keys took a 5-3 decision late in a back-and-forth battle at Nymeo Field at Harry Grove Stadium on Friday night.

Leslie reached base on a one-out infield single in the second, then moved to second on a groundout before catching the Keys (12-13 2ndHalf) unawares to swipe third base before scoring on a wild ball four to Logan Mathieu. The Spikes (14-15 2ndHalf) shortstop collected a pair of hits in the game.

Frederick tied it up on Cameron Butler's bases-loaded walk in the second before the Spikes put up two more runs in the third.Zac Vooletich collected his ninth hit in the last four games with an RBI single to left field, followed by a sacrifice fly from Brennen Dorighi.

Zaid Walker's RBI groundout in the third and Kirkland Banks's RBI single in the fourth then tied the game at 3-3, where it remained until Walker scored on an error in the seventh and Banks delivered a solo homer, his third of the season, in the eighth.

Spikes' reliever Patrick Kudelka (2-1) took the loss after being charged with the go-ahead run, albeit unearned, after he left the mound in the seventh followed 2 1/3 innings.

Frederick reliever Joe Sprake (2-0) picked up the win with 1 1/3 scoreless frames across the sixth and seventh.Matthew Maldonado (2) notched two strikeouts in a 1-2-3 ninth for the save.
