
Spears Sends Fans Home Happy with Walk-Off

PawSox avoided the sweep with a 5-4, 14 innings win over Buffalo Sunday afternoon at McCoy Stadium. Nate Spears hit a lead-off walk off homerun (8) in the bottom of the 14th. That was his only hit of the game and Spears is he first PawSox to hit a walk-off since August 2, 2011, which was hit by him as well. Third Baseman turned reliever; Andy LaRoche earned the win for the PawSox. Both teams combined for 25 hits in the game.
PawSox threatened in the bottom of the first but Alex Hassan was robbed of a hit with the bases loaded to end the inning. Che-Hsaun Lin tripled (3) and scored on a fielder's choice RBI by Jose Iglesias who scored on a single by Scott Podsednik. PawSox took the lead 2-0 after two innings. Buffalo got on the board in the third. Raul Reeves led off with a double and scored after Brad Emaus walked. The Bisons tied the game 2-2 in the fifth after a solo homerun by Adam Loewen.
A double down the left field line by Lin scored Hassan and Linares to extend the PawSox lead, 4-2 after six innings. The Bisons tied the game 4-4 after a two-run homerun by Valentino Pascucci in the top of the seventh, and both teams were held scoreless until the 14th.
Podsednik had four hits and Hassan, Linares and Lin each had two hits for the PawSox. For Buffalo, Bay, Loewen, and Pascucci each had two hits. Dylan Owen got the loss for the Bisons after giving up one run in one inning.
The next series starts tomorrow at 7:05 pm at McCoy Stadium as the PawSox host Syracuse for a 4-game set. Tony Pena Jr. (0-7, 6.23) faces John Lannan (6-8, 4.60).
