July 15, 2012 - International League (IL1)
Toledo Mud Hens News Release

The Hens lost an 8-7 heartbreaker in Rochester on Sunday night as the Red Wings completed a sweep of the Hens to open the second half of the season.

The Mud Hens took a 7-6 lead into the ninth before the Red Wings tagged Chris Bootcheck for two runs for his fourth blown save of the season.

Toledo had no trouble manufacturing runs early as they took a quick 1-0 lead after a Rob Brantly sacrifice fly in the first. Audy Ciriaco then homered in the top of the second to give the Hens an early two run advantage.

The scoring for both teams busted open in the fourth, with the Hens and Red Wings both knocking in three runs. The Hens were anchored by a Ryan Strieby homerun and two RBIs by Matt Young.

Brooks Brown started for the Hens and allowed three runs on two hits over 3.1 innings. Rob Waite and Matt Hoffman combined to pitch 3.2 innings of scoreless relief for Brown.

The Hens added another run after Justin Henry displayed great base running in the eighth by stealing third and scoring on a wild pitch.

The Red Wings made a late push with two runs off Zach Miner in the eighth to cut the Hens' lead to 7-6 before earning the victory off Bootcheck in the ninth.

The Mud Hens head to Buffalo tomorrow to open up a four game set with the Bisons. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.

Game Notes

Justin Henry went 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
