Sox Walk-Off with 4-3 Victory

Colorado Springs Sky Sox News Release
The Colorado Springs Sky Sox scored four runs in the final two innings to walk-off with a 4-3 victory over the Nashville Sounds in front of 5,329 fans at Security Service Field.
Trailing 3-0 in the eighth, Mike Jacobs crushed a two out two-run home run to cut the deficit to 3-2. It was Jacobs' team-leading 23rd home run of the season while he increased his league-leading RBI total to 97.
In the bottom of the inning, the Sounds threatened to add some insurance runs, but the Sox cut down two runners at the plate to keep the game within reach. Jacobs showed why he is more then just an offensive weapon, throwing out the first runner attempting to score from third on a squeeze attempt. Joe Mather threw out the second runner as he attempted to score from second on a single to center.
Riding the momentum created by the defense, the Sox capitalized in the ninth. Mike Paulk led off the inning with a double and reached third as the Sounds fumbled Scott Beerer's sacrifice attempt. Matt Pagnozzi followed with an RBI single to tie the game at 3-3. However, reliever Mike McClendon was able to retire the next two batters, bringing Matt Macri to the plate. Macri sent the fans home happy with a line drive into the left field corner, scoring Pagnozzi easily from second and giving the Sox a 4-3 victory.
Jim Miller (6-5, 5.68) picked up the win while McClendon (3-3, 2.98) took the loss and the blown save.
With the win, the Sox earned a split of the four-game series and improved to 53-62 on the year while Memphis fell to (56-59).
Tomorrow, the Memphis Redbirds come to town for a four-game series. Billy Buckner (4-5, 5.67) takes the ball for the Sox in game one against Brandon Dickson (4-9, 4.23). First pitch is scheduled for 5:05 PM MT.
