Tucson Padres News Release

The Tucson Padres offense could not mount a rally in the final eight innings Saturday and lost to New Orleans, 12-2. Six of the Padres final eight offensive innings featured just three batters each and New Orleans turned three double plays in the victory. Tom Koehler pitched six innings and allowed two runs in the win and Zephyrs reliever Pete Andrelczyk pitched the final three innings for his second save of the season.

Tucson's two runs came on two-out hits in the first inning. Matt Clark singled to left-center field to score Jarrett Hoffpauir and after a Bobby Kielty walk James Darnell singled over the first baseman to score Clark. Tucson starter Jon Leicester lasted 3.2 innings and allowed seven runs, six earned, on 10 New Orleans hits. Seven of the Zephyrs eight position players had at least one hit in the rout.

The Padres won three of four in the series. It was the only four times the Padres will meet the Florida Marlins Triple-A affiliate this season.

Next Game: Sunday, 7:00 pm - Tucson RHP John Van Benschoten (1-3, 6.85) vs. Oklahoma City RHP Sergio Perez (5-9, 4.29). Military Appreciation Night and Tucson Padres Baseball Card set giveaway, presented by Showtime Cards.
