August 7, 2011 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Colorado Springs Sky Sox News Release

The Colorado Springs Sky Sox dropped game one of their four-game series with the Memphis Redbirds 10-3 in front of 7,523 fans at Security Service Field.

The Redbirds jumped on Sox starter Billy Buckner (4-6, 6.06) early scoring in each of the first four innings. Allen Craig got the scoring started with a first inning solo home run. A Bryan Anderson double in the second made it 2-0 and a Mark Hamilton single in third made it 3-0. Memphis would break it open in the fourth, scoring five runs including two on a Nick Stavinoha single.

Buckner settled in to toss two scoreless innings before departing after the sixth. He allowed eight runs on eleven hits while striking out seven in 6.0 innings.

Memphis starter Brandon Dickson (5-9, 4.11) was dominant at times, using a heavy sinker to induce 14 ground ball outs. He scattered ten hits while allowing just two runs in 8.0 innings for the win.

The Sox were able to plate single runs in the fourth, eighth and ninth innings as Jorge Cantu and Radames Nazario doubled in a run a piece.

The loss drops the Sox to 53-63 on the year while Memphis reaches the .500 mark at 57-57.

The Sox will look to return to their winning ways tomorrow as Joey Williamson (0-0, 10.57) takes the hill against Adam Ottavino (3-8, 5.30). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM MT.
