Reno Aces News Release

RENO, Nev.-The Reno Aces squandered an early six-run lead, but came back to defeat Memphis, 13-10, in front of a sellout crowd of 9,018 fans Saturday night at Aces Ballpark.

Reno used a seven-run fourth inning-which included an Andy Tracy grand slam-to take a 9-3 lead, but Memphis would battle back to tie the game at 10 in the eighth. In the bottom of the eighth, Robby Hammock broke the tie with a pinch-hit, RBI single to left, before Reno added two insurance runs on a pair of bases-loaded walks.

In the ninth, Ryan Cook preserved the win with a scoreless frame, earning his second save and giving Reno a series victory over Memphis, three games to one. The win-coupled with a Tacoma Rainiers loss-extended the Aces' first-place lead to 9.5 games and reduced their magic number to 21.

Gaby Hernandez started for Reno but did not figure in the decision, holding the Redbirds to five runs-three earned-in 6.1 innings of work. Esmerling Vasquez (1-2) picked up the win with 1.1 innings of one-run relief.

Memphis starter Blaine Boyer took a no decision, surrendering seven earned runs in 3.1 innings, while Chuckie Fick (5-2) was tagged with the loss, allowing all three eighth-inning runs.

Tracy finished with two home runs and five RBIs Saturday, while Angel Berroa hit his first homer in an Aces uniform-a solo shot in the sixth-and drove in a pair of runs. Evan Frey reached base six times from the leadoff spot, adding four walks to a 2-for-2 evening at the plate.

Reno welcomes the Nashville Sounds to Aces Ballpark for a four-game series beginning Sunday evening at 6:05 p.m. Aces LHP Wade Miley (3-0, 3.66 ERA) is scheduled to start against Nashville RHP Frankie de la Cruz (6-6, 3.73 ERA). Sunday is a Renown Children's Hospital Family Funday, with baseball bingo throughout the evening's game.

Aces playoff tickets will go on-sale August 8, while tickets for regular season home games are available today at RenoAces.com, the Aces Ballpark box office or by phone at (775) 334-7000. Discounted group tickets for your next event are also available.
