
Sox lose a heartbreaker in extra innings

AMARILLO, TX - The Sox drop their second home game of the season in front of 2,115 at the Amarillo National Bank Sox Stadium. The Winnipeg Goldeyes came from behind to win it in the 11th, 4-3 after three hours and fifty minutes of play.
The offense for the Sox drove in runs in each of the first, second, and fourth innings, for the early 3-0 lead. Tim Alberts got an RBI in the first inning of the game, and Jason White drove in a run of his own in the second. The Sox would put up another run when Harrison Cain's RBI double brought in Adam Buscini in the fourth inning.
The next seven innings, the Sox were unable to add any more run support as the Goldeyes snuck back in the game. Starter for the Sox, Justin Garcia did not give up a run until the fifth inning, giving up a single to Amos Ramon, scoring Matt Cusick. Then in the sixth, it was Goldeye catcher, Luis Allen's double that scored Surrendel de Caster.
Winnipeg scored one more run in the top of the ninth as Ryan Mitchal is charged with the blown save. He allowed the tying run to cross the plate from Kyle Day's RBI double. Day would later get injured running to second on a double in the 11th. His replacement, Ridge Carpenter would come around to score the eventual winning run off an RBI groundout by Price Kendall.
Marcus Limon (0-1) gets the loss for the Sox Ryan Mitchell is charged with a blown save. The winning pitcher for the Goldeyes is Craig James, who pitched two innings, only giving up one hit while recording one walk and one strikeout. Nick Carr closed out the game in the final inning, earning his first save of the year.
The Sox move to 0-2 on the year while the Goldeyes improve to 2-0. Sunday's game is set for 6:05 pm as the Sox take on Winnipeg for the last game of the home series. The game can be heard on Ustream via www.amarillosox.com . Game time is tentative and is subject to blackout.
