Altoona Curve News Release
CURVE, Pa. - Connor Scott recorded his third three-hit game of the season on Tuesday night, but a pair of two-run home runs led to the eventual victory for the Bowie Baysox, 4-1, over the Altoona Curve at People Natural Gas Field.
The two home runs surrendered by the Curve pitching staff set a franchise record for the 12th-consecutive game allowing a long ball. Altoona has given up at least one home run in every game since June 7th at Richmond, going 3-9 in that span. The mark tops the previous record of 11 games set May 19-29, 2013.
Aaron Shortridge would toss just over five innings in tonight's contest, allowing two runs on seven hits. The two earned runs given up came off the hot bat of Baltimore's Top 100 prospect Coby Mayo, a two-run shot in the third inning for his 12th of the season.
Cameron Junker, Tahnaj Thomas would also get a taste of the action. Junker recorded one out in the eighth inning following Noe Toribio. Toribio would also appear in the game, giving up the game sealing home run in the bottom of the 8th inning to Billy Cook. He tossed 2.1 innings in the contest, allowing just two hits with two strikeouts. Thomas tossed a scoreless ninth inning in his first appearance off the Development List.
Scott went 3-3 in tonight's contest, all being singles to generate most of the Curve's offense. Scott would score tonight's only RBI on the baserunning of Jacob Gonzalez. Altoona went 2-10 with runners in scoring position and stranded 12 runners on base.
Altoona continues its seven-game homestand with the Bowie BaySox, Double-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, with a doubleheader beginning at 4:30 PM. Altoona will send newly promoted RHP Braxton Ashcraft to the mound to face Bowie's LHP Cade Povich in game one, with RHP Connor Gillispie expected to take the ball for Bowie in game two against RHP Justin Meis for the Curve.
