SUGAR LAND, Texas - The Sugar Land Skeeters and manager Gary Gaetti announced the signing of left-handed pitcher, Dan Runzler prior to Friday night's contest with Long Island. Runzler spent four seasons in Major League Baseball with the San Francisco Giants from 2009-12 and was a part of both World Series runs in 2010 and 2012.

Runzler, 30, enters his ninth-season of professional baseball. He comes to Sugar Land after appearing in 39 games with the Reno Aces (AAA, ARI), posting a 0-1 record and a 5.26 ERA. The ninth-round selection of the 2007 draft out of UC-Riverside holds a 12-26 career record with a 3.81 ERA and 24 saves. Runzler spent four seasons in the big leagues with the Giants, going 4-2 with a 3.89 ERA over 89 appearances. In 2009, Runzler was named Minor League Baseball's Overall Reliever of the Year with a 5-1 record, 17 saves and a 0.76 ERA over 59.0 innings.
