South Team Provides Thrilling Win in 2010 Dennis Johnson High School All-Classic

Austin, TX April 3, 2010- - The south team won the fourth-annual 2010 Dennis Johnson Memorial Boys High School All-Classic Saturday afternoon at the Austin Convention Center, 104-93.

Coach John Morgan's South team jumped ahead early beginning the game on an 11-2 run. Their lead quickly shrunk after the North's back-to-back-to-back three-point shots. The game was tied at 22 with less than a minute remaining in the quarter until Braylyn Thomas, younger brother of Spurs' Curtis Jerrells, made a long-shot with: 09 left.

Demetris Smith's jump shot closed the South's lead, 36-35. Cole Vucurevich's made free throws jump-started a 13-5 south run to end the first half. Jean-Maurice Blanchard's tip-in at the buzzer shortened the South's lead at intermission, 54-42. Bowie's Trey Lindsey led all at the half with 18 points for the South.

In the third quarter the South team was able to extend their lead to 16 points at, 69-53. Heading in to the fourth quarter they were ahead, 77-63.

The fourth quarter was full of exciting plays, including slam dunks and long-shots from both teams. Chris Clement's three-pointer put the North within 9 of South with a minute to go in the game, but it was not enough to regain the lead.

"There's no losing team today," said South head coach John Morgan. "They are all great players and I wish them all the best."

The North had four players score in double figures: Pflugerville's Demetris Smith (20), Stony Point's Chris Clement (20), Georgetown's Jaron Vierra (16) and Connally's Jordon Mason (11).

Three players scored in double figures for the South: Lindsey (22), Del Valle's Thomas (15), and LBJ's Donald Dallas (10).

MVP of the 2010 Dennis Johnson Memorial Boys High School All-Classic was Trey Lindsey.
