IOWA'S EARL BARRON SIGNS WITH NEW YORK KNICKS


The New York Knicks signed center Earl Barron of the Iowa Energy to a 10-day contract, making him the 33rd GATORADE Call-Up of the 2009-10 NBA Development League season. Barron has appeared in 47 games, all starts, for Iowa this season, averaging 16.2 points, 10.2 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 31.7 minutes. He scored in double-figures 39 times, registering 26 double-doubles. He scored a season-high 37 points in a 110-83 win over the Sioux Falls Skyforce in Iowa on March 20. He pulled down a season-high 24 rebounds, to go with 35 points, in a 116-111 road win over the Erie BayHawks on March 3.


SIOUX FALLS' ALEXANDER JOHNSON NAMED NBA DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE PLAYER OF THE MONTH


Alexander Johnson of the Sioux Falls Skyforce has been named NBA Development League Player of the Month for games played in March. The honor is the first of Johnsons' career and the second for the Skyforce this season. In 11 games for the Skyforce, Johnson averaged 24.5 points, 10.9 rebounds and 1.4 assists while shooting 60 percent from the field and leading Sioux Falls to a 9-3 record. During the month, Johnson scored in double figures in all 11 games, including scoring a season-high 32 points in a 99-98 road win over the Maine Red Claws on March 7. Johnson led the Skyforce in scoring and rebounding six times during the month.
