South Bay Lakers Fall Short to Stockton Kings

EL SEGUNDO - The South Bay Lakers played in their seventeenth NBA G League regular season game against the Stockton Kings as they lost 106-101 on Wednesday night. Bryce Hamilton led the Lakers (10-7), in scoring with 23 points. Jordan Ford paced the Kings (13-6), scoring 33 points.

South Bay got off to a slow start in the first frame, digging themselves an early double-digit deficit. Stockton guard Jordan Ford led the Kings with 15 first-quarter points. South Bay trailed 22-30 after one.

A 22-11 run to start the second for the Lakers enabled South Bay to take their first lead of the game with three minutes remaining in the half. 11 second-quarter points from Bryce Hamilton helped bolster South Bay back into the game, the Lakers trailed going into the second half, 53-54.

The third frame played out similar to the first, with Stockton establishing another double-digit lead through stellar defense and shot making. Alex Fudge provided some key energy off the bench, helping South Bay put together a 14-3 run to tie the game, 79-79.

Despite fighting their way back, South Bay once again found themselves down, this time by seven with six minutes to go. After cutting the lead to three with a minute remaining, the Lakers could not get over the hump, losing the game 101-106.

Hamilton put together a final line of 23 points, eight rebounds, and two assists in 29 minutes. Maxwell Lewis added 17 points, six rebounds and three assists while Joirdon Nicholas put up 10 and eight rebounds. For the Kings, Ford put up 33 points and seven assists, while Skal Labissiere scored 31 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.

After the break, South Bay will face off against the Sioux Falls Skyforce on Thursday, Feb. 22 at 7:00pm from the UCLA Health Training Center.
