South Bay Lakers Acquire 11-Year NBA Veteran Darren Collison

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. - The South Bay Lakers, the G League affiliate of the Los Angeles Lakers, announced today the team has acquired 11-year NBA veteran guard Darren Collison.

The 34-year-old has appeared in 711 career regular season games (517 starts) for the Lakers, Indiana, Sacramento, the Clippers, Dallas and New Orleans, averaging 12.5 points (.471 FG%, .394 3FG%), 5.0 assists, 2.7 rebounds and 1.2 steals in 29.3 minutes per game.

Today's acquisition marks Collison's second stint with the Lakers organization this season after signing a 10-day hardship exemption contract with the Los Angeles Lakers on December 24, 2021. The six-foot guard appeared in three games during that stretch, averaging 1.3 points, 1.3 rebounds and 0.7 assists in 12.3 minutes per game.

Collison was drafted with the 21st pick in the first round of the 2009 NBA Draft by the New Orleans Hornets after spending four seasons at UCLA. In 142 games (104 starts) as a Bruin, Collison, a California native, averaged 11.5 points, 4.1 assists, 2.3 rebounds and 1.6 steals in 29.2 minutes per game.

Collison is expected to join the South Bay Lakers for their next home game on Friday, March 25th as they take on the Austin Spurs at 7:00 P.M. PT at the UCLA Health Training Center.
