Sounds Win in Extra Innings over Bulls

Nashville Sounds News Release
Durham, N.C. - The Nashville Sounds (23-21) needed an extra inning to polish off their 6-4 comeback victory over the Durham Bulls on a pleasant Sunday afternoon at Durham Bulls Athletic Park. Patrick Dorrian and Alex Jackson both came through with critical hits in the win.
Starter Caleb Boushley ran into some early trouble when he loaded the bases in the bottom of the first, but he escaped the frame with no damage done. Durham would eventually get on the board first with two runs in the third.
The Sounds' offense was stifled by rehabbing Major Leaguer Tyler Glasnow for the first six frames. Dorrian blasted a solo home run over the Blue Monster in the fifth inning to make it 2-1, but that was the only blemish for Glasnow. Jackson took advantage of the righty's departure in the seventh, smashing an opposite field two-run homer off reliever Shawn Armstrong and putting the Sounds up 3-2.
Boushley left the game after four innings, giving way to a parade of relievers. It was a smooth three innings from Clayton Andrews, J.C. Mejia and Bennett Sousa before the Bulls tied it back up in the eighth. Thyago Vieira (W, 1-0) worked around a two-out triple in the bottom of the ninth to force extras.
Dorrian came through again in the 10th, lining a single to score the go-ahead run in Eddy Alvarez. Monte Harrison's single and Blake Perkins' sacrifice fly gave the Sounds enough of a cushion for Alex Claudio (SV, 1) to lock down the 6-4 win.
Dorrian was the only Sounds player to knock two hits. He and Jackson each drove in a pair of runs.
The Sounds return home to start a six-game series against the Iowa Cubs on Tuesday. Janson Junk (2-3, 3.86) is set to get the ball for Nashville, while Iowa's starter is still to be determined. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. CDT at First Horizon Park.
Post-Game Notes
Andruw Monasterio extended his on-base streak to 23 games when he was hit by a pitch in the 10th inning. Over the span, he's hitting .313 (25-for-80) with 18 runs, three doubles, three homers, 14 RBI and 19 walks.
After a tough April (.154 in 10 games), Patrick Dorrian has had an excellent May, batting .311 (14-for-45) with 12 runs, three doubles, four homers, 10 RBI and a 1.036 OPS in 12 games.
Of Alex Jackson's five home runs this season, three have handed Nashville the lead. Only he and Keston Hiura (5) have multiple go-ahead homers for the Sounds this season.
The benches cleared after the Sounds made the final out in the bottom of the ninth. Both dugouts were issued a warning by home plate umpire Matt Winter, but no ejections were made.
Luke Voit went 0-for-2 with two walks today. Through two games on rehab assignment, Voit is 0-for-4, but has reached base five times.
The Nashville Sounds are the Triple-A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers and play at First Horizon Park. Season ticket memberships for the 2023 season are on sale now. For more information call 615-690-4487 or e-mail tickets@nashvillesounds.com.
