Memphis, Tenn. - Nashville used a five-run seventh inning to down Memphis 8-5 Saturday night at AutoZone Park in front of 10,877 fans.
The Sounds opened the inning with back-to-back home runs from Callix Crabbe and Jose Macias on their way to putting five runs on the board. Mike Rivera capped the rally with a two-run double. Andy Abad led Nashville with three hits with Laynce Nix also driving in two runs. Edgar Gonzalez drove in two runs and Mike Ferris hit his second home run for the Redbirds in a losing effort.
Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Year R.A. Dickey picked up the win with six solid innings. The right-hander scattered five hits and allowed one run with four strikeouts. Mike Venafro took the loss for the 'Birds after giving up two runs on two hits while recording only one out. Starter Brad Thompson tossed five shutout innings and scattered four hits.
Prior to the game the St. Louis Cardinals recalled pitchers Andy Cavazos and Kelvin Jimenez as well as outfielder Skip Schumaker as part of their September call-ups.
Memphis will host Nashville tomorrow night in the Redbirds last Fireworks Show of the season. Randy Keisler is slated to get the ball for the 'Birds and face Nashville's Tim Dillard. First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 p.m.
