Nashville Sounds News Release
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Nashville Sounds return home to Greer Stadium this Thursday, June 14, to open an eight-game homestand against the division-rival Omaha Storm Chasers (Royals affiliate) and Oklahoma City RedHawks (Astros affiliate).
Highlighting the week's worth of promotions will be three fireworks shows, an Adult T-Shirt giveaway, Dukes of Hazzard Theme Night, a Trevecca Nazarene University FAITH NIGHTSî concert, and "Hammerin' Homers Night" - a special evening for Habitat For Humanity of Greater Nashville at the ballpark during which the Sounds will wear specialty plaid, tool belt jerseys on the field.
The homestand opens with the first of two Taco Bell Throwback Thursdays. Sounds players will be wearing retro 1980s-style uniforms while fans enjoy concession stands filled with discounted pricing, such as $2 beer, $2 soft drinks, $2 hot dogs, $2 popcorn, and $2 nachos. Beer sales will conclude at the end of the 6th inning, while Slugger's Sports Bar will sell until the end of game. Fans with Taco Bell receipts and college students with valid college IDs will receive $5 general admission tickets to the game.
Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam and First Lady Crissy Haslam will also visit Greer Stadium on Thursday to promote the First Lady's Read20 Family Book Club. Game time is 7:05 p.m. and gates open at 6:05 p.m.
Postgame fireworks will follow the action on the field for Friday's 7:05 p.m. contest with Storm Chasers. In support of the National Foundation for Cancer Research, the Sounds have partnered with the National Foundation for Cancer Research to "Strike Out Cancer." Fans will have the opportunity to take home a baby blue bat, which will be autographed by a member of the Sounds starting lineup and auctioned off during the game. The auction begins when gates open at 6:05 p.m. and continues until the end of the fifth inning. All proceeds benefit the National Foundation for Cancer Research.
For Saturday's 6:35 p.m. game, the first 2,000 adults through the turnstiles at Greer Stadium will receive a Sounds T-Shirt, courtesy of Vanderbilt Sports Medicine. Combined with postgame fireworks, courtesy of Nashville's NEWS 2, Saturday evening is another can't miss evening with the Nashville Sounds. Gates open at 5:35 p.m.
Don't forget your glove on Father's Day for Sunday's 2:05 p.m. series finale. Sport Clips is giving you the chance to play catch with your dad on the field after the game. The family-friendly Faith & Family Sunday will occur. Fans receive half off of reserved or general admission tickets when a church or community bulletin is displayed at the box office. Limit eight tickets per bulletin and only redeemable on the day of game.
It is also Autograph Day, where a pre-game autograph session will take place on field with members of the Sounds team and coaching staff beginning at 1:25 p.m. Gates open at 1:05 p.m.
After a league-wide off-day on Monday, the Sounds continue their homestand at 7:05 p.m. on Tuesday night by welcoming the Oklahoma City RedHawks to Music City. It will be a Tornados Tuesday 2-For-1 Tickets, where fans can bring a receipt with proof of Tornado snack food purchase to the Sounds box office and receive two tickets for the price of one. Gates open at 6:05 p.m.
Wednesday night's contest 7:05 p.m. with the RedHawks marks the return of #WebWednesday. Sounds email newsletter subscribers and social media followers will receive the "Steal Of The Week" at Greer Stadium for Wednesday games, while fans also receive other social media ticket opportunities and ticket discounts. Gates open at 6:05 p.m.
The second Taco Bell Throwback Thursday of the homestand will begin at 7:05 p.m. and will be a special Duke of Hazzard Theme night. Thanks to our friends at Cooter's Place, the General Lee, the Roscoe Police Car, and a Boss Hogg look-a-alike will be parked at Greer Stadium. Fans are encouraged to dress up like their favorite characters from the famous TV show while also enjoying the discounted-priced concession items of Taco Bell Throwback Thursday. Beer sales will conclude at the end of the 6th inning, while Slugger's Sports Bar will sell until the end of game. Fans with Taco Bell receipts and college students with valid college IDs will receive $5 general admission tickets to the game. Gates open at 6:05 p.m.
Postgame fireworks will light up the sky as the Sounds conclude their eight-game homestand with a jam-packed Friday evening at Greer Stadium. Musical artist Sidewalk Prophets will perform a Trevecca Nazarene University FAITH NIGHTSî pregame concert on the plaza stage near the first-base entrance approximately one hour before a 7:05 p.m. first pitch. Gates open a half-hour earlier than normal at 5:35 p.m.
Also on Friday, the Sounds will be wearing specialty plaid, tool belt jerseys on "Hammerin' Homers Night" in support of Habitat For Humanity of Greater Nashville. Fans have the opportunity to participate in a silent auction during the game in order to take home a player's jersey right off his back following the contest. The auction begins when gates open and continues until the end of the fifth inning. All proceeds benefit Habitat For Humanity of Greater Nashville.
Following the homestand, Nashville will embark upon a seven-game road trip at Albuquerque (Dodgers affiliate) and Round Rock (Rangers affiliate) before returning home on Saturday, June 30 to host a four-game homestand against the division-rival Iowa Cubs (Cubs affiliate).
Individual and season tickets, as well as group packages, are currently on sale. Call (615) 690-HITS or visit the Sounds' website at www.nashvillesounds.com/tickets to order or for more information.
