Sounders FC Travels to the Rocky Mountains for Matchup against the Colorado Rapids
October 20, 2021 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Seattle Sounders FC News Release
SEATTLE, WASH. - After a 2-1 weekend loss on the road at the hands of Houston Dynamo FC, Seattle Sounders FC (17-6-6, 57 points) heads to the Rocky Mountains for the second time this year to take on the Colorado Rapids (14-6-9, 51 points) Wednesday evening at Dick's Sporting Goods Park (6:00 p.m. PT / FOX 13+, Prime Video, KJR 950 AM, El Rey 1360 AM).
Seattle holds the edge in the all-time regular-season series, battling to a 19-7-3 record against the Rapids since 2009. The Rave Green have also emerged victorious in all three postseason meetings between the clubs.
The two squads have faced off two other times this season. The first saw the clubs battle to a 1-1 draw at Dick's Sporting Good's Park, with Alex Roldan scoring for the Rave Green. The sides also recently met earlier this month on October 3 at Lumen Field, a 3-0 Seattle win with Cristian Roldan opening up scoring in the second minute.
Having already clinched a spot in the 2021 Audi MLS Cup Playoffs, a result for Sounders FC would secure a top-four seed in the Western Conference and a home playoff game. The club could also clinch a top-four seed with a loss or draw from both the LA Galaxy and Portland Timbers.
Following the match against the Rapids, Sounders FC heads back to the Emerald City for a matchup with second-place Sporting Kansas City on Saturday, October 23 (12:30 p.m. PT / FOX 13+, TUDN, Prime Video, KJR 950 AM, El Rey 1360 AM).
