Seattle Sounders FC News Release
SEATTLE, WASH - After setting a new league record with 13 games unbeaten to start a season, Sounders FC (8-0-5, 29 points) hits the road to face Minnesota United FC (4-5-3, 15 points) on Sunday at Allianz Field. The 13-match unbeaten run is also tied for the longest in club history at any point in a single season, matching the franchise record set in 2017.
Sounders FC today announced that it has signed Tacoma Defiance players Samuel Adeniran and Obed Vargas to Short-Term Agreements, making them available for the club's match tomorrow at Minnesota. International callups and injuries to players on Seattle's roster have made the club eligible for Extreme Hardship. As a result, the Rave Green have signed Adeniran and Vargas from the club's USL Championship affiliate to a short-term loan for Sunday's match.
Sunday's match is being broadcast nationally on ESPN, featuring Jonathan Yardley and Kyndra de St. Aubin on the call. Sports Radio 950 KJR is carrying tomorrow's fixture on the radio, with commentators Keith Costigan and Kasey Keller, in addition to Jackson Felts, Pete Fewing and Danny Jackson providing pre-match, halftime and post-match coverage. El Rey 1360 AM is broadcasting Sunday's match in Spanish, featuring Zuper Mario Rodriguez, Felipe Maqueda, Carlos Tapia and Marlo Vilela on the call.
Sounders FC is unbeaten in eight all-time meetings (7-0-1) against Minnesota (including postseason). The Rave Green most recently earned a 4-0 win in the 2021 season opener at Lumen Field on April 16.
Seattle is without Alex Roldan and Cristian Roldan, who are away on international duty for El Salvador and the United States, respectively, for this month's Concacaf Gold Cup.
Sounders FC's road stretch continues on Thursday, July 22 against expansion side Austin FC in the club's first-ever trip to Q2 Stadium (6:30 p.m. PT / ESPN, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM).
