Sounders FC Recognizes Family of Officer Diego Moreno at Sunday's Match, Reminds Fans of Kickoff Time Change

SEATTLE, WASH. - Seattle Sounders FC wishes to remind fans and media of the previously announced kickoff time change for Sunday's match against FC Dallas at CenturyLink Field. Major League Soccer previously moved the home contest from 5:00 p.m. PT to 7:00 p.m. PT, with the game being shown nationally on FS1.

Fans can stay up-to-date by using the Sounders FC mobile app to add matches to their calendar, or the schedule can be downloaded and synced with calendars.

Prior to kickoff, the club honors Kent Police Department's Officer Diego Moreno, who was killed in the line of duty last month. Officer Moreno, a proud and passionate fan of Sounders FC, played a pivotal role in bringing out groups from his department during the club's First Responders Night each year. He earned three life-saving medals and was twice presented the Chief's Award for Exceptional Duty. Sounders FC pays tribute to Officer Moreno's life and service before kickoff, and his two children take the lead delivering the evening's match ball.

Additionally this week, John Richards of KEXP leads the "Scarves Up!" moment, and the national anthem is being performed by Andy Stokes. Stokes is a local R&B artist who in his past experienced homelessness, but has come back to have a successful career, even breaking into the Top 15 of Billboard's Adult R&B chart. Stokes' story is being shared as part of Sounders FC's support of Pearl Jam's The Home Shows initiative, bringing attention and action to the homelessness crises in Seattle.

Courtesy of club partner CHI Franciscan, the first 10,000 fans through the gates this weekend receive decks of Sounders-themed playing cards, featuring cards such as the King, Gustav Svensson, and the Joker, Chad Marshall.

TRAFFIC NOTE: Those utilizing northbound I-5 this weekend should be aware that the interstate is being reduced to two lanes between Swift/Albro and State Route 520 beginning at 8:00 p.m. PT this Friday, August 10, and running through 5:00 a.m. PT on Monday, August 13. Fans should consider carpooling or taking public transit, and those traveling from the south end should use the West Seattle Bridge exit to Fourth/First Avenues or Airport Way as they make their way into SoDo. Following the match, WSDOT will be on hand to help fans by temporarily opening the Edgar Martinez on-ramp to eastbound I-90/northbound I-5. Fans should expect some delays exiting the stadium area.
