The Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) were eliminated from the 2018 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup after playing to a 3-3 draw before falling 7-6 in penalty kicks against Houston Dynamo at BBVA Compass Stadium on Wednesday evening.

Forward Diego Rossi gave the Black & Gold the lead six minutes into the game, before the Dynamo would score three unanswered goals through Andrew Wenger (12'), Mauro Manotas (25') and Memo Rodriguez (75'). Rossi answered back with his second goal of the game 12 minutes from time, before adding the equalizer in stoppage time, recording his first hat trick with LAFC.

After no score in extra time, the game would be decided via penalty shootout. Each team made four of the first five attempts, but it would be the Dynamo that would advance to the final of the 2018 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup after an eighth round miss by forward Latif Blessing.

The Club returns to regular season action on Saturday, August 11 hosting Sporting Kansas City. Kickoff at Banc of California Stadium is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. PT on YouTube TV, UniMás KFTR 46, ESPNLA 710 (English) and KFWB 980 (Spanish).
