Sounders FC Faces Houston Dynamo in Road Matchup at PNC Stadium
October 16, 2021 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Seattle Sounders FC News Release
SEATTLE, WASH. - After soaring to a 4-1 home victory over Vancouver to remain in first place in the Western Conference, Seattle Sounders FC (17-5-6, 57 points) hits the road to take on Houston Dynamo FC (5-12-12, 27 points) on Saturday, October 16 at PNC Stadium (5:30 p.m. PT / FOX 13+, Prime Video, SoundersFC.com, El Rey 1360 AM). With a win or draw on Saturday, Brian Schmetzer's side can clinch a top-four seed in the Western Conference and a home match in the 2021 Audi MLS Cup Playoffs.
With the win against Vancouver, Seattle qualified for its 13th consecutive postseason, a MLS record and second among all five major U.S. men's sports leagues, behind the NHL's Pittsburgh Penguins (15).
Sounders FC and Houston have faced off against each other on one other occasion this year, with Seattle shutting out Dynamo FC 2-0 at Lumen Field on July 7. Seattle currently holds the advantage in the all-time regular-season series with a 11-4-6 record, winning eight straight matchups (including postseason) against the Texas side dating back to June 4, 2017.
While Seattle has never lost to Dynamo FC at home during the regular season (9-0-2), the Rave Green are 2-4-4 on the road in the series, having never won a match in Houston until 2018.
Following the match against Houston, Sounders FC travels to Colorado for a midweek matchup on Wednesday, October 20 at Dick's Sporting Goods Park (6:00 p.m. PT / FOX 13+, Prime Video, KJR 1090 AM, El Rey 1360 AM).
