Sound Tigers Sign Niedert to PTO

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (December 15, 2011) - The Bridgeport Sound Tigers announced today they have signed goaltender Nick Niedert to a professional tryout contract (PTO). The move comes following goaltender Kevin Poulin's recall to the New York Islanders.

Niedert, 29, has appeared in over 200 professional games since the 2004-05 season. The Hudson, IA native joins the Sound Tigers after posting a 5-4-0 record, 3.63 goals against average and .905 save percentage with the Danbury Whalers of the Federal Hockey League this season. Niedert also appeared in one game with the Elmira Jackals of the ECHL earlier this year, allowing two goals in 17 minutes of play.
