Sound Tigers Sign Cunningham to PTO

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (December 15, 2011) - The Bridgeport Sound Tigers announced today they have signed defenseman Wes Cunningham to a professional tryout contract (PTO).

Cunningham, 24, joins the Sound Tigers after recording 11 points (one goal, 10 assists) in 18 games with the Greenville Road Warriors of the ECHL this season. The Dresden, ON native was second amongst all ECHL defensemen last year in assists (36) and ranked third amongst defensemen in points (43).

Now in his fourth professional season, Cunningham shows 28 goals and 109 assists in 227 ECHL contests between Greenville and Elmira. The 5-11, 180-pound blueliner made his AHL debut with Norfolk in 2009 and did not record a point in his lone game with the Admirals. Prior to turning pro in 2008, Cunningham played in the Ontario Hockey League with Owen Sound, Belleville and Plymouth from 2003-08.
