
Sound Tigers Announce AHL Contracts

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - The Bridgeport Sound Tigers announced today that forwards Tyler Barnes, Josh Holmstrom, Jesse Root, Andrew Rowe and Sebastien Sylvestre, along with defensemen Bryce Aneloski, Kane Lafranchise and C.J. Ludwig and goaltender Parker Milner have agreed to American Hockey League contracts.
Barnes, 25, recorded 74 points (34 goals, 40 assists) in 71 games with the Toledo Walleye last year and was named an ECHL All-Star. The 6-foot, 198-pound forward also appeared in two games with the Grand Rapids Griffins, as well as seven games with the San Antonio Rampage in 2013-14. The Burnsville, MI, native spent four years at the University of Wisconsin before turning pro.
Holmstrom, 25, scored 13 goals and added 14 assists in 63 games last year for the Toledo Walleye. After completing a four-year career with the University of Massachusetts-Lowell, Holmstrom played seven games with the Sound Tigers at the end of the 2013-14 season.
Root, 25, split last season between the Texas Stars of the AHL and Idaho Steelheads of the ECHL. The 6-foot, 185-pound forward recorded 16 points (eight goals, eight assists) in 15 games with Idaho, and tallied 12 points (five goals, seven assists) in 37 games with Texas. After completing four years at Yale University, Root also played 11 games for the Sound Tigers at the end of the 2013-14 season, registering one goal.
Rowe, 27, split last season between the Charlotte Checkers of the AHL and South Carolina Stingrays of the ECHL. The Muskegon, MI, native had five points (one goal, four assists) in 28 games with Charlotte and 56 points (17 goals, 39 assists) in 44 games with South Carolina. Rowe finished second in the playoffs with 15 goals and 19 assists while helping the Stingrays to the Kelly Cup Finals.
Sylvestre, 21, spent the 2014-15 season with the Bakersfield Condors of the ECHL. The 6-foot, 183-pound center recorded 47 points (23 goals, 24 assists) in 69 games with Bakersfield last season. Prior to turning pro, the Boucherville, PQ, native spent four years in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League playing for the Chicoutimi Sagueneens and Rimouski Oceanic.
Aneloski, 25, played the majority of last season for the Orlando Solar Bears of the ECHL. The Pekin, IL, native had 27 points (nine goals, 18 assists) in 58 games for Orlando and also appeared for both the Providence Bruins and Toronto Marlies in the AHL. A seventh round (196th overall) selection of the Ottawa Senators in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, Aneloski has also played for the Iowa Wild in the AHL.
Lafranchise, 27, played for both the Utica Comets of the AHL and Kalamazoo Wings of the ECHL last season. The defenseman scored two goals and had eight assists in 27 games with Utica and recorded 16 assists with Kalamazoo. The 6-foot-1, 220-pound Edmonton native has previously suited up for the Oklahoma City Barons, Houston Aeros and Abbotsford Heat in the AHL.
Ludwig, 25, split the 2014-15 season between the Oklahoma City Barons of the AHL and the Bakersfield Condors of the ECHL. The blueliner scored one goal and added four assists in 28 games for the Barons, while posting three goals and 11 assists in 26 games for the Condors. The 6-foot, 195-pound Ludwig played four years at Northern Michigan University before turning pro last season.
Milner, 24, appeared in 43 games for the Quad City Mallards of the ECHL last season, posting a 24-14-2-1 record with a 2.28 goals against average and a .920 save percentage. The Pittsburgh, PA, native played eight games for Bridgeport during the 2013-14 season, going 4-2-0 with a 2.95 goals against average and a .904 save percentage. Milner won two National Championships while at Boston College from 2009-13.
