Huntsville, AL --- Neftali Soto homered twice and drove in six to lead the Carolina Mudcats to a 13-1 victory over the Huntsville Stars before 600 fans at Joe Davis Stadium on Monday night.

Soto's homers were part of a four home-run night by the Mudcats (17-20), who moved back into a third place tie in the North, trailing first place Chattanooga by five games.

Soto hit a solo homer in the third and a two-run shot in the sixth to support Pedro Villarreal (W, 5-2) during his six-inning start.

Bill Rhinehart drilled a homer in the third, with Yasmani Grandal took out reliever RJ Seidel in the sixth to cap an 18-hit attack.

Villarreal allowed six hits and one run, walking none and fanning two.

Chris Mobley, Tim Hamulack and Donnie Joseph combined to blank the Stars (17-20) over the final three innings.

Carolina scored twice in the first inning on RBI-singles by Soto and Rhinehart. The Mudcats scored three in the third, and leading 5-1 in the fifth, Did Gregorius doubled home a run with a passed ball scoring another.

Soto and Grandal went back-to-back in the sixth, while Carolina scored three in the ninth against Jesus Sanchez.

The series continues Tuesday night with Brandon Hynick (1-2) starting against Michael Bowman (2-9) at 7:43 PM ET.
