Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp News Release
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Florida Marlins have announced a transaction that impacts their Double-A affiliate Jacksonville Suns roster prior to tonight's game against the Montgomery Biscuits at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.
Right-handed pitcher Bryan Evans has been transferred from High-A Jupiter to Jacksonville. This will be Evans' second stint with the Suns this season, having pitched in relief for two games in May, not recording a decision with a 3.38 ERA. With Jupiter, Evans is 5-1 with a 1.02 ERA in 17 games and five starts.
Evans was selected by the Marlins in the 14th round of the 2008 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of California-Davis.
The Suns roster now stands at 24, and a revised roster is attached.
The Suns and Biscuits will play the third game of the five game series on Tuesday night at the Baseball Grounds. Tuesday's game will feature "Fifty Cent Family Feast Night" with Suns fans having the chance to purchase fifty cent hot dogs, peanuts, and ice cream treats.
Right-handed pitcher Omar Poveda (6-5, 5.48 ERA) will pitch for Jacksonville against Montgomery's right-hander Shane Dyer (5-6, 4.62 ERA). Tuesday's game will start at 7:05 p.m. ET, and fans can listen to the contest beginning at 6:50 p.m. with the U.F. & Shands Pregame Show on Jacksonville's WFXJ AM 930 the Fox and www.jaxsuns.com.
